Jims Blog

This blog is used to write about some of the shows we go enter the car in. I will also post pictures of the car that we take from an event or even an award that we might win.

NSRA Day 3

Dad's 58 was chosen for an award, so he got to park in the inside the building for the day, so that his car was on display under the lights. This was nice for several reasons, one: its was cold and windy outside, and two: the crowd was all pretty much in the building to view the car on display.

NSRA Day 2

We arrived at the show around 6:30 am to a long line of cars waiting to get in the gate. The wind was howling again this morning and the temp outside was a brisk 30 degrees. Needless to say, we had all the windows rolled up, heads adorned with beanies and coats on. Once the sun came up,

NSRA Day 1

Dad had been wanting to get the 58 in the NSRA show in Oklahoma since we finished building it. I am glad to report that we finally made it. We arrived at the the show long before the sun came up to find we were about 20th in line to get in. The wind was howling  and there was a threat of rain.

58 Making its Oklahoma Debut

Dad and I went and got the registration for the car show and had lunch at Whataburger, and what a burger it was. There were a good number of cars at the hotel where the registration process was being held, so hopefully it will turn out to be a good show. The weather for Saturday and Sunday

The 58 is in town.

The secret is out! Dad has brought the car to enter it in the 2018 NSRA show in Oklahoma City. It was a long drive from home to get here, and at 5 miles a gallon, it was a wee touch expensive. The money will be worth it just to be in the show and to show the car to our family and friends

We had to do some work on the car and had to pull it out of the garage, I had to take a picture of the lights. I love how they look, they have enhanced the look of the car.

Dad wanted to paint the exhaust pipe that you can see behind the front wheels. He has never liked that look on any

Halo - no not the game.

Dad found some new headlights that he really liked from a vendor at the Autorama this year. He chose the option that had the Halo's and boy do they look good.

Each light has its own Halo that can do different things. You can set them up to come on with the ignition like day

Running Again

After inspection, we found that the Carrier Bearing was the reason for the break down. Upon closer examination I believe the cause of the failure was the weld on the axis that caused the Carrier Bearing to fail. The original axis was shortened to accommodate the new transmission.

Broken Down Hot Rod

Well, the Hot Rod broke down on us on the way home from the Autorama, just less than a half mile from home. We came up to a red light, and there came a rather sinister sound from under the car. I have never heard anything like it before.

Favorite Custom / Classic

We headed out to the show around 11 this morning stopping to get some lunch before hand since we figured it would be cheaper than paying those high prices. It was 4 bucks for a bottle of water, which is pretty crazy since you can buy a 32 pack of water
